Post-Party Season Skincare


So, now party season is over (boo), the countless bottles of champagne are finished, your Christmas chocolates from your stocking are a thing of the past and your face officially looks like crap, it is time to get that glowy, healthy skin back. These are the products I will be using now that the effects of too much bubbly, pigs in blankets and chocolates can clearly be seen through congestion, spots and an over all dull appearance to my skin.

Let's start with cleansing, as always. I have re-introduced my favourite cleansing oil; Una Brennan Vitamin C Cleansing Oil. This gives your skin an instant boost of radiance due to the brightening vitamin c based formula. Going in with a good facial massage with this will help to get circulation flowing better, bringing nutrients and oxygen to your skin, making it appear more radiant, plump and healthy. Just what we need! You could use any cleansing oil, really, but I find this one great just because it helps to restore that glow.

Next up is dealing with congestion, which is probably an issue for a lot of people after a lot of drinking and bad eating habits (I know it is for me, for sure!) For this, I recommend a good clay-based mask. As always, I recommend the Glam Glow Super Mud which really will fix everything. It is great for pulling out congestion from within the skin and helping to smooth out uneven texture. It will also work great for any active blemishes that have popped up on the surface of the skin too. I also love the Caudalie Instant Detox mask which does just as good of  job but for half the price.

If you've got a lot of spots on the skin (*raises hand*) the F.A.B Blemish Control Pads work amazingly at getting rid of them fast. Use this for a few nights in a row and blemishes will be visibly reduced but without the harsh effects that other spot treatments can have. These do not strip the skin of moisture or cause irritation.

Hydration, hydration, hydration. We need it now more than ever! The cold weather is enough to dehydrate and unbalance the skin but add lots of alcohol on top of that and you can soon find your skin feeling tight and uncomfortable. First thing is first, drink a lot of water. A lot of water. Then, at  night time using a sleeping mask can help to restore hydration as you sleep. I love the Vichy Skin Sleep, as the thick nourishing formula feels lovely on the skin but sinks in immediately so it is comfortable to wear and sleep in. In the morning your skin will feel so plump and nourished!
Hydraluron is without a doubt the best thing for helping reduce dehydration. Apply every morning before your moisturizer and instantly feel the difference in your skin. It plumps and hydrates immediately and makes your moisturizer do a better job by holding onto hydration all day.
You could also use an oil. The Body Shop Oils of Life facial oil is my favourite right now as it is so light on the skin yet incredibly hydrating! It sinks in so quickly to the skin, yet restores moisture and plumps up the skin. I love it.
